Installation of the internal fire water supply system (IFWSS) is the installation of the communication, which is an integral part of effective fire suppression of any size location on the site. The system installation is mandatorily at the following structures:
- Housing estates with a height of more than 12 floors.
- Administrative buildings from 6 floors in height.
- Dormitories.
- Industrial enterprises.
- Warehouses.
- Places with large crowds and traffic - cultural centers, shopping malls, circuses, concert halls.
- Production facilities.
IFWSS accommodates not only an extensive network, but also additional components. In case of fire, they will help the system to fully function and provide a stable water supply to fire hydrants.

Internal fire water supply system is used as an effective fire suppression tool, so the construction is mounted exclusively from steel ( the use of polymeric materials is not allowed). The design of the IFWSS allows to combine the fire suppression system with the utility pipeline, production water supply networks. Depending on the facility design, the water supply circuit for fire suppression can be dead-end or circular. Dead-end is allowed at those locations where the design provides from 12 fire hydrants. In a circular system, additional shut-off fixtures are used. With their help, water can be shut off partially at certain sections to eliminate an accident or malfunction.
In addition to various pipe diameters and fire hydrants, the following necessary elements are used in the internal fire water supply system installation:
- pumping stations;
- various fasteners;
- devices for monitoring the system's operation;
- fire detectors, with their help, hand pumps are put into operation.
A prerequisite for quality uninterrupted system operation is the working pressure, which provides the necessary level of water. If the calculations show that the pressure does not match the design requirements, the system is additionally equipped with pumps.
